ANO PLAYA White is a blend of two exceptional Greek varieties, Malagousia and Assyrtiko. The Assyrtiko variety, characterized by minerality and explosive acidity, originates from Santorini but its cultivation has spread throughout Greece, making it one of the most important Greek varieties. Malagousia is one of the most aromatic Greek varieties, once almost abandoned by growers, but now it has found its place as a world-class variety. This combnations gives a refreshing, enjoyable white wine with abundant fresh aromas of flowers and fruit.
Origin
The grapes come from privately owned vineyards located in the semi-mountainous village of Anoskeli (Chania), at an altitude of 250 meters. The vineyards have low yields (>1200 kg/acre).
Winemaking
Cultivation of the vineyards and winemaking are carried out entirely by our winery under the supervision of our Oenologist, Ioannis Galanis. Each variety is harvested separately at the appropriate time. A classic white winemaking process is followed in stainless steel tanks, which takes place at low controlled temperatures (16-21℃).
Tasting Notes
The wine has a bright lemon color with greenish highlights, medium body and medium(+) acidity. The nose is expressive with tropical aromas of mango, lime, pineapple and peach, framed by floral notes of jasmine and lemon blossoms. On the palate it is refreshing while the aromas of the palate follow the nose. Enjoyable lemony aftertaste.
