White Dry Wine | PGI Crete (Chania)
750mlA monovarietal white dry wine made from the indigenous Cretan grape variety Vilana. Vilana is indisputably the Queen of whites in Crete, however, it has an ambiguous reputation due to its once populous and low quality production. Now, through careful vinification methods, this variety has a lot to offer, as a fun, vibrant summer essential.
Origin
The grapes are sourced from privately-owned vineyards with low yields (>1200 kg/acre) located on the hills of Anoskeli, at an altitude of 250 meters. It bears the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Crete.
Winemaking
The cultivation of the vineyards and the vinification are carried out entirely by our winery under the supervision of our oenologist, Ioannis Galanis. A classic white vinification process is followed in stainless steel tanks, which takes place at low controlled temperatures (16-21℃).
Tasting Notes
The wine has a deep lemon color with a medium body and medium acidity. On the nose we perceive aromas of citrus and white-fleshed fruits (lemon, orange, pear), with pleasant hints of flowers (such as jasmine) and herbs that complete the aromatic profile. The palate is enjoyable, slightly creamy with a fresh finish.
